Dr. Berton H. Kaplan, Ph.D., has spent most of his career teaching in the departments of Epidemiology and Anthropology at the University of North Carolina. He has also served as the director for the UNC Russell Sage Law and Society Seminar Program, the director of the training program: Psychosocial Factors in Mental Health and Disease, the Deputy Chairman for Academic Affairs, and the founder and chair of the Carolina Seminar on Forgiveness and Health. Dr. Kaplan’s research has focused on various aspects of community as they affect health.
Berton H. Kaplan Lifetime Achievement Award
Beginning in 2009, the award will be presented to a scholar who has shown distinguished service in the field of spirituality, theology and health. The award was presented to David O. Moberg in June 2009.
